Victorian'GARFIELD' WALLIS GIMSON Plates 1885 Antique Blue and White China

The blue and white china of dreams! An absolutely stunning set of 7 Wallace and Gimson dinner plates featuring the gorgeous'Garfield' design in an almost sky-blue circa 1885.

The design has been transferred onto the plates and features a gorgeous array of roses, geometric patterns and Japanese cartouche influences. Each plate is stamped and numbered on the base. Considering these beauties are almost a 130 years old they are in incredibly good condition.

There is some crazing to the glaze- varying on each plate- and two without any at all. A fair amount of gold gilt is left on the rims of each plate with only one almost completely rubbed off. There are a few'flea-bites' to the china here and there and some small knicks to the underside. The transfer is still gorgeously coloured and bright with expected areas of wear on some plates (again varying) please see photos. A great chance to own some of the most beautiful pieces of Victorian Aesthetic Movement design.
