An opportunity to acquire a very rare and highly collectable antique, Victorian oval lidded soup tureen featuring the ubiquitous Willow Pattern design in blue on a white background. I'm not an expert and both pieces are unmarked, but I think it was probably made by an English pottery and dates from middle of the 19.
A particularly interesting feature are the pair of unusual ribbed, fan shaped handles on either end with a hole beneath which may be of particular interest to a collector of traditional 19. This large and heavy serving dish which has been well-used and suffered damage in a number of places on the lid and base where the glaze has flaked off. This is in good condition with the little wear to the pattern plus the crazing and staining which you'd expect in antique china well over 150 years old.
The loss of glaze in a number of places on the base and lid is clearly shown, but there are no cracks or chips to the piece. The serving dish measures approx. 30cm x 19cm x 14cm tall. This item is in the category "Pottery, Ceramics & Glass\Decorative Cookware & Tableware\Plates".
