RARE BLUE & WHITE TRANSFERWARE PLATE TULIP BORDER PUNTING RIVER CHERWELL c. 1825

A rare antique blue transferware earthenware plate with a'Tulip border' c. Punting on the River Cherwell'. There is a small boat with 7 figures, one is punting and another. Is retrieving something, possibly a fishing net/ trap from the water.

There is a large central oak tree and a town can be seen in the distance. To the left there is a thatched cottage with a fence. Unknown maker; known as Tulip border by Terry Sheppard. Sometimes referred to as'St.

The plate has an off-centre crack which at some point in the past. As was usual in the day, was staple repaired. At a later date the staples were removed and it has had some basic restoration/ repair. But the staple holes are have been filled in.

It also has age crazing and some over-painting and a chip repair on the underside of rim. My photos form an important part of the description so please take time to look at them all. Thank you for viewing my listing.
