A large highly decorative 19th century Japanese Arita blue and white charger has a hand-painted design of a landscape with mountains, trees, lake shore and teahouses. Boats are sailing in the distance. The painting has good line quality that was crafted by a deft hand. The shade of cobalt blue is a medium darkness and the white over glaze has a bluish tint.

The charger is 12 diameter and 2 ΒΌ tall, and has an undulating rim that adds increased additional interest to the lovely piece. The underside has raised foot ring that shows wear and is smooth to the touch. Sager marks show on the base. The condition is very good for the age.

The charger rings but it has an inch-ling rim hairline crack. No rim chips but shows some kiln flaws and some slight wear.
