Four other "countries" are depicted at the edges of the plate, two are real places (Korea and the Ryukyus) and two are mythological (the Country of Dwarfs and the Women Protected Country). Already long eclipsed by more accurate maps, this old map was probably reproduced by the potter because of its antiquarian interest to early nineteenth-century Japanese. Very good condition, there are little stain on the back of the edge as shown in picture (I believe the one in the corner is from the kiln and the other from tape and most probably removable), no crack, no hairline, no restoration or damages of any kind. 12 inches diameter by 13 inches.
