FABULOUS Antique c1890 J & MP BELL, Scottish Pottery Oriental transfer, col. Plate

On offer here, is a delightful AND fabulous, antique, IKAN China, Oriental Plate produced by J & MP Bell, from Edinburgh , SCOTLAN D. More than 120 years old! As plate collector's will know, English pottery was strongly influenced by Chinese and other Oriental designs in the eighteenth & nineteenth centuries. This item is a classic example! The dragon features prominently in Oriental culture, and on this plate we have the " PIXIU " (the head of a dragon & body of a Lion) to the center of the plate (pics 2 & 3); the " CHIWEN " head of dragon and the body of a dolphin or sea-creature fish; (see pic 4) and a phoenix-like bird (see pic 6)....

All prominent in Oriental mythology. The plate measures 9 1/2 in diameter (see pics 5 & 10) NO cracks or chips!
