DAVENPORT Antique c19th Blue & White Strainer Pearlware Oxburgh Hall Norfolk
Offered here is a DAVENPORT Antique c19th Blue & White Transfer Printed Strainer. This is made from Earthenware Pottery with a Pearlware glaze and is from the Georgian period. It features 2 gentlemen in front of a Country House. One is carrying a large net and is walking with a cane, it could be a fishing net or a net for catching Butterflies. The pattern is called Oxburgh Hall, Norfolk. It has the impressed Davenport mark with an anchor. The straining holes are unusual, they are largely a crescent moon shape with some circular holes. The entire piece measures 14 inches x just over 9 inches. The piece does have a crack between 5 & 6 o clock on the bottom edge. This has a lovely blue colour and would look great on a dresser.
We estimate from the impressed mark that this dates to 1793 to 1810. If anyone does know the name of the pattern could you please let us know. (Stock Box Misc 90 on).
