LITTLE MAE BLUE Child's Tea Set made by Charles Allerton & Sons Staffordshire England in the late 1890. Blue transferware on white china dishes. There are 5 Cups that are 2" tall; 6 saucers measures 4.5" diameter; 6 plates measure about 5 3/8" diameter; the teapot measures 5.5" tall; creamer measures 3.25" and the covered sugar measures 4.5". Little Mae Blue sits in her doorway with her kitten on her lap; birds in the trees and her dog beside her.
The rims are decorated with a criss-cross border and fruit trim. Many of the dishes are marked with pattern number 780 and registration number 106741, registered to the Staffordshire pottery maker Charles Allerton. The only flaw I found was at the tip of the tea pot there is a slight chip in the spout. (see photos) Otherwise the remaining dishes are in excellent condition.
There are some swipes missing from the transferware in some dishes but that trait is what makes these tea sets so collectible. These tea sets are hard to find and very collectible - especially in the Little Mae patterns.
