Antique Pearlware Historical Blue Staffordshire Transferware Plate. America Independence Enoch Wood & Sons c 1825. This pearlware plate celebrates the 50th anniversary of American Independence as well as several other significant events of the nation in its very early years. Center scene captures The Landing of the Father's at Plymouth Dec.

22, 1620 It shows the landing on Plymouth Rock and the names of the men in boat represented are listed as'Carver, Bradford, Winslow, Brewster, and Standish. This charming Staffordshire plate commemorates events important to Americans from the settling of Plymouth Colony by the Pilgrims in 162o, honoring George Washington's birth and passing. It also commemorates the significance of July 4, 1776. The sea battle of the HMS Boxer and USS Enterprise in 1813 as well as the Steamboat voyage of Robert Fulton in 1807 from New York City to Albany are depicted in the two cartouches on the right and left side of the plate.

The plate is marked on the reverse with an impressed heart and this mark was used by Enoch Wood & Sons from 1818 to the 1830's. It also bears an old stock label and I have left that in place. The diameter of the plate is 10 inches and has no damage or discolorations.
