Antique Staffordshire Dark Blue Transferware Cupid Jailed Plate Wood & Sons 1830
A beautiful circa 1820's-40's Staffordshire dark blue transferware plate in the popular "Cupid Jailed" pattern by Enoch Wood & Sons. It is impress marked on the back as shown. Measures 10 1/8 in diameter. The color is great with shiny glaze. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines and no repairs. There is no glaze crazing and the plate has normal stilt marks as expected.
The interior has some light utensil marking seen when tilted in light and a couple spots of high point glaze wear from stacking. For the record, there is a bit of light brown impurity in the glaze along one side on the back and there are two faint reddish brown 1/2 marks along the rim edge that are from an old metal plate hanger; all minor and mentioned for accuracy.
