Antique Liverpool / Leeds Pearlware'Pagoda & Fence' Pattern Plate c1780 - Exc+! A beautiful George III, likely Liverpool, pearlware plate in the'Pagoda & Fence' pattern, also known as the'Chinese House' pattern. The moulded plate features a feathered edge and is decorated in a dark cobalt blue with a classic pagoda and fence design to the centre. Many variants of this design exist but all feature trees, a fence and a house or pagoda. The foreground almost always consists of shimmering water with assorted rocks and plants. This really is a super example in almost'as-new condition! No marks to the base but very likely Liverpool pearlware in origin (although it could also be Leeds).
