Part of a collection of Asian art formed by the previous owner during his travels in Japan between 1882 and 1920, acquired Tokyo Art Market. Diameter approx 31 cm's, depth 2 cm's. Mid Edo period (18th century) C 1750. Extra large Japanese porcelain hand painted Sometsuke display plate depicting Jays amidst Chrysanthemums.

Signs of wear commensurate with Antique but overall very good condition. Base with uzufuku mark used prior to the Meiji period. A Japanese term referring to the technique of decorating ceramics with brush-painted designs in underglaze cobalt blue on a white ground.
