Japanese Imari / Kraak Porcelain Charger. A large Japanese charger with reticulated border. The center is hand painted in the Kraak style, in deep cobalt tones. The Kraak styling perhaps leans more on the Kangxi revival than the original Wanli form. The outer is in the Arita imari style with soft gold and green enamel along with the iron red.
The reverse has spur marks to the center to help prevent sagging and warping in the kiln. There appear to be no marks at all. Very nice quality, probably Meiji period. Some scratches in the glaze to the face.
Some kiln frit to foot rim. Some wear spots around the rim perhaps from an old wire hanger. Diameter: 33.8 cm (13 1/4 inch). Depth: 4.5 cm (3/16 inch).
Weight: 1310 grams (before packing). If for any reason you are unhappy with your item please let us know as soon as possible, and we will do our best to put things right.
