Antique Chinese Gu Vase, blue and white, marked, Qing Period 19th. Description : A superb example of the Chinese Gu shaped vase, a form that can be traced. To ancient Chinese ritual bronze vessels from the Shang and Zhou dynasties (1600-256 BC). Tall and slender in form, with a slightly flared base.

That tapers to a slim center. Section before widening again into a trumpet-like mouth, wider than the base.

This Qing Gu is decorated with four flowering heads within the centre, with a hatched. Border circling above and below. The lower section consists of five panels with banana leaves. Whilst the upper section comprised of two larger details of flowering peonies.

Finished and with a two circle mark underglaze blue. Being of good size and excellent condition this Gu is recommended. Erfect - just a slightly darker colour to the bottom of the foot where resting.
