A Rare Ming Blue & White Dragon Flori Petal Rim Plate On Stand
Of a shallow dish body with a flora petal-barbed rim. The central medallion well-painted in soft cobalt-blue tones with a vigorous dragon flying amidst flames and clouds, borne on slender interlaced vines within a octagonal flori-form ruyi shaped petal cartouche of double-lines conforming to the gently fluted cavetto. Band of floral spray bordered along the outer rim. The exterior with stylized lotus blooms in arrays decorating on each lobed petal. Displayed upon a wooden stand. The underside left un-glazed with orange-brown base, and dark-grayish firing spots. Located in New Sewickley Township, Pennsylvania; these records are dated Oct 1866. Dimension: 3" H x 16" Diam.
