A PAIR of Early C18th English Delftware Blue & White Tin Glazed Plates A/F. A fabulous, early eighteenth century (c1740) matching pair of 22.5cm tin-glazed earthenware plates. Likely London or Bristol in origin, the plates are hand-painted in an Oriental theme featuring a fenced garden with bamboo and different blossoms. The wide border features further blossoms in a repeating pattern and each plate has a brown glazed rim. A lovely, early pair of plates.

No markings to the rear. The plates are in good condition overall. Plate 1: Very good overall condition. Normal crazing to the glaze.

Three larger chips to the rim at 3, 6 and 11 o'clock (the heaviest is at 3 o'clock but the chip is mainly apparent to the rear of the plate). 50% loss of glaze to the rim. No cracks and no restoration. Plate 2: Acceptable/good overall condition.

Smallish chips to the rim at 3, 4, 6 (x2), 7 and 9 o'clock. A repaired 3-piece broken section at 12 o'clock. Please see pictures for more information. Each plate is 22.5cm diameter and weighs 460g.
