Offered for sale is a stunning lot of (6) antique dark blue transferware plates manufactured in Staffordshire, England during the early to mid1800s. The plates is from the English Views Series and they feature a naturalistic scene of Wistow Hall in Leicestershire, England in the center. The back of each plate is marked with the pattern name, and overall they measure approximately 8 3/4 in diameter. The overall condition of the lot is excellent. They are extremely clean and have no chips, cracks, or repairs with the exception of a single small flake to the foot rim of one plate.
The white earthenware is still bright and the blue color is deep with nice contrast. The glaze is glossy with no crazing noted and there are standard light utensil marks on the surface of each plate. The plates display extremely well and would be a nice addition to any collection or home! It is difficult to find a set of six like this all together in this condition. Please be sure to check out my other auctions for more great items!
