18th Century Delft Delftware 23cm Blue & White Tin Glazed Earthenware Plate

18th Century Delft Delftware 23cm Blue & White Tin Glazed Earthenware Plate. A lovely, likely mid-eighteenth century, blue and white tin glazed earthenware plate.

Hand-painted with a wonderful & unusual central design of an exotic bird standing above a fence with blossoms and leaves. The border pattern features stylised leaves and petals. No markings to the rear.

The rim of the plate has been chipped at some point and the entire rim has been ground back to the earthenware as a'repair' (this practise was quite a common approach to rim-chipped earthenware plates). Otherwise the plate is in very good condition with no cracks or restoration. Please see pictures for more information.
