Fabulous and Hard-To-Find 8 ¾ Blue & White Transfer Ware Plate in the Dromedary Pattern by Pountney & Goldney, Gloucestershire, England c. This magnificent Ironstone Scenic Plate features a Dromedary or Camel and His British? Owner with Palm Trees and Egyptian Pyramids in the Background. The complimentary Rim is decorated with very lovely Clusters of Flowers resembling Magnolias. The spectacular Plate is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Just some light knife marks in the well and a teeny 1/16 nick in the glaze in addition to the indigenous manufacturing stilt marks. None of this being readily noticeably unless holding the Plate sideways up to light or looking closely. Also, two areas on the back of the Plate - one about 2" and the other spot around 1" - with some very light age browning very faintly noticeably on the front around the Dromedary on close examination. These could probably be professional cleaned if desired (though I personally dont believe its necessary). Very fine Crazing is present which, of course, is commonly found on these pieces given how they were made (as with the Stilt Marks).
