Chinese blue and white charger, 18th century, Yongzheng (1723-35), decorated in the centre with a scholar and two ladies in a garden with two fenghuang (phoenix) in a garden, circumscribed by cartouches with auspicious emblems and flowerheads against a diaper background, the outer border with sprays of chrysanthemum, peony and cherry blossom and a narrow band of scrollwork to the rim, the reverse with two foliate sprays; diameter: 14in. (35.7cm); condition: hairline to the rim, fritting with three chips, shallow chip to base.
