A Fine Ming Blue & White Jingdezhen (Kosometsuke) Export Serving Dish. Chongzhen

A Fine Late Ming Export Porcelain Dish With A Crane Jingdezhen ware. White porcelain of circular form with a light iron-brown glazed rim, the gently curved sides raised on a typical small foot, the interior painted in underglaze bright cobalt blue wash with a central circular medallion depicting a stylised crane in flight among scrolling of cloud, the cavetto encircled with folding fans, the typical plain underside, a cobalt-blue. Six-character mark to the base, typical plain underside, some kiln-grit adhering to the footring, covered with a rather thick pale blue tinged glaze in darker hues where thick. The style of potting with a small footring bears characteristic features of porcelain making at the time.

15 cm (5.9 in) maximum cross diameter, 3.7 cm (1.45 in) high. An old trivial shallow chip to the footring unless otherwise undamaged with no cracks, chips and restoration. Some manufacturing imperfections to the iron-brown glazed liprim, footring and base with firing cracks. Some old wear to the glaze in general use.
